Nerve damage where the bone graft was harvested?

I think I have Nerve damage where the bone graft was harvested:

I’ve researched the internet about bone graft surgeries for quite some time now. I was only in 8th Grade when my mother agreed to have surgery for me for this autogenous bone graft surgery. They took some part of the bone from my left side of the hip. I have a scar there. I am now 21 years old and I am completely becoming more aware of my health and my medical history as I have asked my mother to obtain and to give me all of my medical history to help me understand all of the surgeries that I have encountered.

In my lifetime, I’ve had about 7-8 surgeries involving my cleft palate/lip, ear, tonsils, mouth and a removal of my appendix. How does this equal to 7-8? I’ve had many tube replacement in my ears. However, what I wanted to ask was that has anyone who has gotten the same surgery as me (the removal of the hip bone from my left side) and to place it up in my upper jaw i believe. I believe that my cleft palate had to do something with this because during this time I was seeing an orthodontist who was in the works of lining up my teeth as perfect as he could. He was the one recommending this bone graft surgery so he could line up my teeth.

My problem is that after 8 years.. I still have this numbness in this left leg of mine. I also feel skin irritably and I can not scratch off the itchyness no matter how hard I try. No only this, I’ve been receiving some chronic pain in my leg lately. I just wanted to know if this is even possible from this surgery that I have had EIGHT years ago? I will be re-questioning my medical history from the Lucile Packard Stanford Hospital when I get the chance for my medical history. Hopefully they will show me everything I need to know about it. I’ve had so many surgeries in my life, but I never knew what it was for. I am now 21, taking control of my life and finding out everything about my medical history. Hopefully you can answer the questions that I have asked in this. Please respond as soon as possible. I am genuinely curious if I am the only person that is experiencing this.

Also I went to my family doctor recently.. he only prescribed me gabapentin but it honestly isn’t helping my pain at all. Hopefully I will get some good answers. Thank you for taking your time to read this.

-A genuinely curious scared patient

    Nerve Damage

    Hi Jason,

Since the bone graft was so long ago and you’ve physically grown and matured so much I suspect that the problems in your left leg do not have anything to do with the bone graft. I’m really excited you have had so much care for your cleft! Many people, including leukemia patients, have bone surgeries performed and no nerve damage. Instead I initially suspect something like shingles or some other type of neurological condition. Seeing a neurologist might not be a bad idea.
