Implants to anchor my denture down

| October 18, 2013 | 1 Comment

I have a bottom denture and decided to get 2 implants to anchor my denture down at a dental school. Both implants failed and the dental school I went to said that they would put new ones in with no cost to me. They decided to give me a bone graft in which I only had to pay for the material.

I have both bottom (roots) implanted however the school is over 2 hours away from my home and I just don’t want to go back to finish this up due to the time involved of getting there, work life etc.

Do you think I should be reimbursed for the implants and also, would any other dentist want to finish this already started job?

    Completing Your Implant Therapy NEW

I would highly advise you to continue using the dental school to finish your implant therapy. While I understand that the school is inconvenient for you, here are my reasons:

    – The faculty and students are already aware of your immediate implant history and are the most adequately equipped to make any changes to your treatment to help increase the success of your implants.

    – You will still be saving generous amounts of money to continue your care at the school. If you were to see another implantologist you would possibly have difficulty in finding the right size abutment to fit (as the implant is already placed), and he would have to charge you for an implant as well as a crown.

    – Do not seek reimbursement from the school. It is an educational facility and there are risks with any care whatsoever, so you’ve most likely signed any responsibility away… and all care is provided to cover their costs, not make a profit.

    – Please consider the students that you will put in a dilemma by not continuing your care with them. I have been there, and it is very inconsiderate when a patient causes you to not meet a requirement or grade needed to pass simply because they did not feel like showing up.

If it were me I would definitely go back to the school. Good luck!
