Implant infection

I had first stage implants October 5th,took antibiotics before surgery and 9 days after with medicated mouth rinse.A few days after I went for a check up, the last one was in October 16 X-rays revealed no problems.

A day go I felt an abscess in my gum close to the healthy tooth near the implant.
I went to my dentists he examined it and took an X-ray. It was a small Implant infection. An incision was done to clean the tissue and I was put on new course of antibiotics.

Should I be concerned about implant failure?

    Hi Adam,

It’s still early on to predict whether or not the implant will fail. My guess is that since you were put on a strict antibiotic routine that you have something else going on with your oral or systemic health (be it gum disease, smoking, other health condition, etc.). Please, please, please be sure to follow any and all home care instructions to a T and practice religious oral hygiene including flossing to prevent any bacteria from building up around the gums.

Hopefully with the measure your DDS took, your implant will resume healing normally.
